Students from a local university have vowed to resume their demonstrations next week on Tuesday to pile pressure on security agencies to bring back their colleagues who were kidnapped by police within the college environs last week.

Announcing the planned demos, a student leader at the Garissa University who sought anonymity for fear of victimisation said their mission will go on until Victor Kiprotich, a second-year student at the college is found.

"The mission will continue. The police should tell us where Victor Kiprotich is brought back or when his whereabouts is made public. We are tired. We are no longer safe within and outside campus," said the student leader.

On Tuesday this week, the Garissa college students chanted slogans of ‘produce Kiprotich now’ as they blocked the Kismayu Road, paralysing traffic for several hours and setting vehicle tyres ablaze. They also vowed to push on with street protests until he is found.

However, anti-riot police were called on, with the Garissa police chief Mr Aron Moriasi trying to cool down the protesters but to no avail.
