Eliud Kipchoge on Sunday wrote his name in the annals of history as one of the greatest, if not the greatest marathoner to ever walk on planet earth.
His stunning run in Berlin, where he broke the world Marathon record, which has been existing for the last four years, was a culmination of persistence over the years, where he has dominated major marathons.

Kipchoge was born on November 5, 1984, in Kapsisiywa, Nandi County.
He is the last born in a family of five children.
His mother is a teacher and his father passed on when he was young.
He started his running career at a young age but came into the limelight in 2002 when he took part in the junior races aged 17.
He won a bronze medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics and bronze at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Kipchoge has always maintained a clean doping record and has never been found guilty of any doping claims.
Kipchoge’s day starts at 5am in the training track at Global Sports Camp, Kaptagat, located 30km East of Eldoret.
He is coached by Patrick Sang who has been his mentor since he was 16 years.
