Hundreds of defrauded Ekeza Sacco members who had thronged to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters on Monday morning have now demanded to have a meeting with Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The Sacco members drawn from Kiambu and Nairobi counties had gone to the DCI with various fraud complaints against Gakuyo Real Estate, Ekeza Sacco and Gakuyo Investment Club after they were last week asked to report there and file formal complaints.

The three firms are owned by rogue Bishop David Ngari alias Gakuyo who is also the founder of Thika-based church, Calvary Chosen Centre.

However, what was expected to be a smooth process turned ugly after the Sacco members began to protest saying they did not have faith in the DCI.

Speaking to a K24 TV reporter live on location, the members said that the forms they were asked to fill were not helpful to them as 'all we want is our money'.

"Why did they call us here only to ask us to fill many useless forms that are not helping us in any way? Will (George) Kinoti call me now that I am being told to fill my phone number?

"The government knows who has stolen our money but they want us to spend the whole day here filling unnecessary papers," one member who identified himself as John said.

Another member who claimed to have had lost over Sh400,000, said they had expected to be told about their money but nothing like that was forthcoming or did the DCI explain to them the purpose of filling the forms.

Another elderly member said: "We are tired of this nonsense after spending our money on transport to come here expecting to get help. All these information they are asking us to provide, the man who defrauded us has all of it.

Why didn't they ask him for it when he came here last week? I think now our help is with Matiang'i and Raila whom we believe will help us out and we must meet them."

The irate members later barricaded the busy Kiambu road leading to a huge traffic snarl-up, forcing police officers to lob tear gas to disperse them.
