The 2022 succession politics continues to rage on as politicians across the political divide lobby for top seats.

Top and vocal politicians across the divide have declared an interest to contest various seats in the much anticipated 2022 polls.

In North Eastern, for instance, several politicians are believed to be lobbying for gubernatorial and senatorial seats in 2022 elections.

Here are some of the vocal politicians from North Eastern region who could contest and be elected governors in the 2022 general election.

1. Aden Duale 

The Garissa Township MP has not declared an interest in vying for the governor seat but there is rife speculation that he could give it a thought.

Last year, Duale revealed getting pressure from residents to vie for a top seat in 2022.

The MP, however, said that he is not interested and that his agenda is to serve locals as MP.

There have been speculations of political supremacy between Duale and Governor Ali Korane.

The two leaders have however rubbished the supremacy claims terming it pure propaganda.

Korane elected on Jubilee ticket is serving his first term in office.

2. Fatuma Gedi 

The Wajir Women Representative is among vocal Somali politicians.

Gedi’s name has been hitting headlines in the recent past.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Gedi will be among politicians to watch in 2022.

The women representative is battling to clear her name from bribery allegations in relation to contraband sugar report that as reject in Parliament last year.

There are speculations that the vocal Wajir politician could contest for the Senate or governor seat in 2022.

Gedi has however not hinted on whether she will be vying for the governor or senate seat in 2022.

3. Adan Keynan 

The Eldas MP is among vocal politicians in Northern Kenya.

He is also among veteran and experienced politicians from the region.

There is speculation that the legislator could contest for a higher position in 2022.

The lawmaker has however not commented on whether he will eyeing a top position in the much-anticipated polls.

4. Rehema Dida Jaldesa

The Isiolo Women Representative is also among vocal politicians in Northern Kenya.

In 2017 she made headlines when she declined to shake President Uhuru Kenyatta’s hand.

The MP saluted instead of shaking hands with the president during a political rally in Isiolo.

Her action was interpreted as part of the Somali culture.

Though soft-spoken, Dida is said to be a political strategist and could contest for a top position in 2022.

She has however not yet hinted on vying for a top seat in the forthcoming polls.
