Delayed interviews for chief officers and need to audit departments led to Governor John Nyagarama's last minute cancellation of scheduled cabinet reshuffle.
On Thursday, insiders had hinted a reshuffle which was to take at around 5pm local time, a move that literally elicited panic among cabinet members.
But with a looming court battle on illegality in shortlisting of Chief Officers and subsequent delay in auditing of directors, Nyagarama, who had flawn from Mombasa'l, changed his mind.
"There was need to audit departments before reshuffling of directors. Auditing had been delayed a bit.
"Also, Chief Officers interviews had to be rescheduled to allow assembly fill some two slots in CPSB. These two led to governor's decision to cancel reshuffling," said the source who spoke in confidence.
Director of Communications Kefa Miller had however denied that such changes were to take place on Thursday.
"I am aware of cancellation of interviews of Chief Officers but am not aware about reshuffle of cabinet. The one for Directors was stopped to allow auditing," he said.
But a minister who spoke in confidence said the reshuffle was 'inevitable since it would allow members to get experience' elsewhere.
For days, Nyagarama has been under pressure from the public over delayed response to development, precipitating his emergency meeting at the coast with MCAs and ministers.
