Garissa County Assembly has, on Tuesday, approved a motion on the establishment of cemeteries, funeral parlors and crematoria in the various sub-counties.
In a motion sponsored by Hulugho Member of County Assembly Adow Omar, the county government will have to look for land across the various wards and sub-counties to pave way for the establishment of the cemeteries.
Speaking during the mentioning of the bill in the house on Tuesday, MCA Adow Omar stated that it was time the county government looks for land parcels for locals to bury their loved ones.
"This motion if passed will compel the county government to find land in all the sub-counties to allow our people accord their loved ones a descent send off. I now urge all the members of this house to support this motion," Adow revealed, calling on his fellow MCAs to support the motion.
If the motion eventually sees the light of the day, all the sub-counties in Garissa will have designated parcels of land specifically set aside for crematoria and cemetery services.
