Dozens of bodaboda riders on Monday blocked Gesima-Esani-Magombo road, accusing area MP Shadrack Mose of laxity despite promising to do the road last year.
Led by Kennedy Osoro, the protesters accused Mr Mose, the Kitutu Masaba MP of negligence, questioning his association with Deputy President William Ruto.
"Last year, he came with DP Ruto at Rigoma and he promised to have the road done. Over one year later, there is nothing concrete has bee. Done. All we see is him moving from one corner to another with DP Ruto," he said.
He added: "We cannot transact businesses during this rain season. We understand that KERRA has allocated funds for improving of these roads. Why is he not responding to our calls?"
For the better of morning hours, the riders planted bananas along the road to show their dissatisfaction with the leadership. According to Osoro, the road cannot be completely used during rainy season.
Activist Kefa Onyinkwa said residents have lost revenue due to the bad state of the road. According to him, agricultural products cannot be ferried to the markets across the region.
But a close ally of Mr Mose, one Nyandieka Ayiecha said: "The MP has allocated money for the road. There is no excuse, it will be done soonest. We regret the inconveniences. The MP is improving all KERRA roads."
