From one political meeting to another, Joho's seemingly new brand politics of leaving rivals and supporters alike in suspense could be a game changer in 2022.
At a time when his relationship with Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi was said to be on the rocks, the Mombasa County Chief swiftly organized a meeting with his counterpart.
Somehow, it helped cool the temperature between them and their allies who had been pulling towards different political directions especially after the March 9, handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga. They even agreed to form a Coastal party. Will it come out to see light of the day?
Then on Sunday, he traveled to Kabarak to meet former President Daniel Arap Moi. Though the details of the meeting remains scanty, there is a possibility that 2022 politics was part of the agenda.
On the other hand, Joho remains a loyal member of ODM party which is led by Raila Odinga, his political mentor.
So far, the Mombasa Governor wears three faces: that of Raila political protege, Coast political kingpin where he is keen to outsmart Kingi and finally, a national figure. The three strands are aimed to propel him to State House.
