Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has poked holes over the manner in which parliamentary entertainment budget is being used.
The lawyer made the remarks after it emerged that a group of parliamentarians have traveled to Russia to watch the ongoing World Cup.
In a tweet on Friday, Abdullahi faulted the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi for approving the budget that sponsored the trip of the MPs to Russia.
"So Kenya is the only country in the world that sent parliamentarians to Moscow as spectators in the world cup final?...thanks to our visionary/patriotic speaker... it only costs the taxpayers a cool Kshs 30 to 45 million," reiterated teh lawyer in his tweet.
Abdullahi sarcastically asked Speaker Muturi to sponsor Muslim Mps to Hajj for bench-marking.
"With a travel/entertainment budget of Kshs 6 Billion speaker Justin Muturi is totally lost on how to spend it...please send the Muslim MPS to the Hajj for benchmarking in Mecca," added the lawyer.
The lawyer joins other Kenyans to express disgust and outrage in the manner in which parliamentarians have decided to spend public funds. In the view of Kenyans, the Mps should have used the money to sponsor projects aimed at reducing the problems the country is already facing.
The Mps went ahead and posted selfies and other images of themselves in Russia to show how they are enjoying the ongoing World Cup tournament.
