A family from Nyaisero village in Gucha Sub County will live to remember January 1, 2019, after a form two female student hanged herself under unclear circumstances.
Confirming the incident area chief David Nyanchong'i said the deceased identified as Moraa refused to accompany her siblings to church.
"The deceased prepared breakfast for her parents and siblings but refused to accompany them to church. She entered her bedroom where she locked herself and hanged herself using a rope," said the chief.
The chief further said the deceased parents said no one quarrelled with her.
"Her parents said no one had differences with the late. Her decision to take own life remains a shock not only to family members but, also villagers because she has been a social girl," he noted.
He challenged school going children to stop taking suicide to be the last option whenever they are faced with difficulties.
"I wish to urge school going children to seek guidance from parents whenever they are faced with difficulties. We don't want to continue witnessing young people taking their own lives mysteriously," said Nyanchong'i.
The administrator said he alerted police officers from Ogembo police station.
"Police collected the deceased body and took it to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital morgue as probe over her death has commenced," stated the chief.
