Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has scolded his critics whom he claims have been saying that he is not ready to retire.
The vocal county boss now says he's looking forward for the referendum to go through so that he may remain in active politics after 2022.
Speaking during the burial of the late retired presidential escort, Leonard Yator in Kesses, the powerful governor took a swipe against 2017 gubernatorial opponents reiterating that if former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's push for a referendum will succeed, he will still remain active in politics.
Raila's push for the referendum that will see the introduction of three-tier government, with Mandago tipped to go for the Rift Valley regional post.
”I have heard some people saying that I have remained with only three years to go home, they should know that in case Raila’s bid for the referendum will go through I will still have another chance to be governor,” said Mandago who is serving his second term.
However, he backed Deputy President William Ruto's call for local farmers to adopt agricultural diversification to boost their economy and ignore leaders politicizing agriculture claiming that they are misleading locals from engaging in profitable farming activities.
