A NASA allied MP has confirmed that he would beat Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, in case he vies for Kisii County governor's seat in 2022.
Richard Onyonka, the Ford Kenya party Deputy leader, said he is not afraid of battling it with Matiang'i in succeeding Governor James Ongwae in 2022.
"I am ready to face Matiang'i. I will beat him to succeed Governor James Ongwae in 2022," he said.
The Kitutu Chache South lawmaker insisted that Matiang'i should stick to his job as a cabinet secretary or else he would be humiliated in 2022.
"Politics is not the same as being a Cabinet Secretary. Matiang'i must be ready for a humiliating defeat in 2022," stated the vocal MP.
Onyonka dismissed claims that Matiang'i is more popular in the Gusii region unlike him, saying the electorates would decide when the time comes.
"I have been in politics for long unlike Matiang'i who is joining for the first time. Those who think Matiang'i will win Kisii governor's seat are daydreamers misleading Matiang'i to be in the cold after a defeat in 2022," he added.
He was speaking on Wednesday when he was being interviewed at Egesa FM's Boka Boka show.
