Former Member of Parliament and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim made shocking revelations on his Twitter handle about the things he witnessed in the corridors of justice.
According to him, the country's criminal justice system is a cesspit of corruption which has been overtaken by wheeler-dealers who don't care one bit about justice but are driven by selfish interest.
Those who have money are the ones who stand to get justice while those who don't are left to their own devices, Maalim argues.
"I saw the Kenyan Courts and lawyers up close and candid in one solid year of litigation.I tell you for free the courts are markets and the highest bidder will get favourable rulings. Substantive justice is illusive&technicalities and lacuna in regulations justify unjust decisions," he tweeted.
The revelations will come as a shock to Kenyans who depend on the country's legal system for justice.
They come amid Chief Justice Maraga's efforts to rid the judicial system of corruption.
Courts in the country have long battled allegations of corruption and unethical practices that have undermined the confidence of the public in them.
