The incident happened on Tuesday morning in Mwongorisi West Mugirango in Nyamira County.

Edward Orioki claimed that the woman Doris Nyaboke trespassed to his homestead yet he has not been in good terms with her husband.

"Nyaboke sneaked to my home to gossip people with my wife. I attacked her using my walking stick," said the man.

Locals faulted Orioki for attacking Nyaboke instead of sending her away from his homestead in peace.

"Orioki must be arrested and arraigned in court to face assault charges," said one of the local Maurice Osoti.

Osoti said Nyaboke was rushed to Nyamira county hospital for treatment.

Nyaboke said she had gone to pick a jembe Orioki's wife borrowed from her when she met the attack.

"I have never gossiped anyone with Orioki'ss wife. I must get justice since I can't walk following the severe attack," said the victim.

A local assistant chief Fred Obae said he received the information about the attack from community policing officials.

"I have summoned Orioki to appear in my office on Wednesday morning to shade more light on the attack before further legal actions can be taken," said the chief.
