Meru Finance Minister has said he lost money after unknown people broke into his car.
The finance minister said the money was in the car when the incident happened.
The story was aired on Citizen TV Monday evening.
Sources privy to the incident said the money was in a briefcase when the thieves broke one window and stole it.
The incident has raised eyebrows; however, as Kenyans questioned how the thieves knew money had been left in the car.
How come they broke in the day money had been left in the car. This is an inside job,” Ephraim Kathuuri said.
Police said investigations into the theft have started.
It is not yet clear, however, if the minister has recorded any statement.
Details are also scanty on the mount that was stolen and what it was meant for.
