Nandi County senator Samson Cherargei has come out to criticize governor Stephen Sang over the ongoing crisis at the county.

On Tuesday morning, the youthful governor suspended 16 senior county officials including 3 county executives; Valentine Chumo for Education, Hillary Koech - Transport and infrastructure and Stanley Baliach of Lands. 

Addressing a press conference at parliament buildings on Tuesday afternoon , senator Samson Cherargei has called for the resignation and arrest of governor Stephen Sang.

Cherargei has accused the governor of leading in misappropriation of public funds in his government and called for his investigation. 

“It is now time for Governor Sang to resign following massive allegations of graft facing his administration. Today's suspension of 15 County officials by Governor Sang and instigating his own investigation using his own officers is a mockery of the public,” reads part of Cherargei’s statement on Facebook.

 According to Mr Cherargei, the county government of Nandi cannot account for over Ksh 2.3 billion and the governor’s move to suspend his employees is a mockery to the common Mwananchi. 

“Governor Sang cannot account for 2.3 Billion shillings yet he's busy hoodwinking common mwananchi by suspending junior officers. We want to make Nandi Governor - Stephen Sang a perfect example of how wanjiku can revolt and Chase out corrupt County officials from office,” Cherargei added. 

In his statement, Samson Cherargei urged the offices of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to immensely investigate governor Sang. 

Governor Sang while issuing an official statement on the suspension of his juniors indicated that the employees will stay out of the county’s business as investigations of lost of over Ksh 3.4 million is going on.
