The first term county chief could not hide her joy following the offer to oversee the election.

She met several powerful personalities from all over the World including the former US Ambassador to Kenya Johnny Carson.

Ngilu took to social media to share her happiness.

She noted that free and fair elections in Nigeria mean a lot to Africa as a continent.

“With Amb. Johnny Carson, the former US Amb to Kenya, also a delegate in the Intl Election Observer Mission in Nigeria. Proud to be part of this important mission to the largest democracy in Africa. A free, fair, and transparent election in Nigeria is a plus for Africa's democracy,” Ngilu tweeted on Thursday.

Ngilu was the only leader from Kenya chosen to oversee the general elections in Nigeria.

She was reportedly chosen due to her vast experience in the political arena.

The governor, who served as a Member of Parliament for two terms and Cabinet Secretary in the Lands docket, will be in the country until next week.

Ngilu made history when she contested for the Presidency against retired President Daniel Arap Moi in 1997.

She has been vocal on matters affecting Kenyans.
