Elders from Njuri Ncheke Nakuru chapter have distanced themselves from the meeting that was held on Saturday that reportedly endorsed Gideon Moi for president come 2022.
The meeting was reportedly held at retired President Daniel Moi's press person Lee Njiru’s home in Ngata.
The Saturday meeting had Gideon Moi meet the delegation led by Njuri Ncheke chair Albert Mugambi.However addressing media in Nakuru on Monday, Njuri Ncheke Nakuru chapter led by chairman John Muuyuri termed the group that had visited Gideon as masqueraders.
“We as the leadership of Njuri Ncheke Nakuru chapter would wish to state categorically that the purported leaders are masqueraders who were posing as Njuri Ncheke in attempt to hoodwink and extort money from unsuspecting Rift valley political leaders,” said Muuyuri.
They added that during the planning of the tour, Njuri Ncheke summit did not sanction, was not involved and that the Nakuru chapter was also left out.The Njuri Ncheke Nakuru chapter while de-associating with the statements made over the weekend insisted that any official communication affecting the entire Meru community is made from the Njuri Ncheke Shrines in Nchiru, Meru county after wide consultations.“During the planning of the tour, Njuri Ncheke summit did not sanction, was not involved and that the Nakuru chapter was also left out with only masqueraders being involved. We therefore as Nakuru chapter de-associate ourselves with statements made on that day,” said the leadership of Nakuru chapter in a statement.The leaders said they still support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto. “Any political utterances being made are on personal grounds and after all Njuri Ncheke is not a political party but we are a peaceful community that supports the government of the day,” said Muuyuri.#hivisasaoriginal
