According to his kin led by Daudi Obado, his brother, the Governor's woes are originating from his opponents within the Orange Democratic Movement.

In a press conference on Thursday, the group said that it is aware of the same and has information of a section of ODM leaders who have sworn to frustrate Obado.

He claimed that Obado is being punished for winning the seat on a rival party in the 2013 election when he clinched the post on the People's Democratic Party.

"In 2013, the same Obado contested for the seat of governor in Migori, when the nominations were just approaching, his name was removed from the register.

Eventually, these same pretenders of ODM could not campaign for their candidate; they instead campaigned for an independent candidate. So why is it Obado always?" he is quoted by Citizen Digital.

The remarks were echoed by Samuel Odhiambo, a relative who claimed that the leader is being intimated, a situation that has affected his work.

"As a family, we are sad that he (Obado) has not been given an opportunity to work. Every day he is arrested over different case yet all these cases do not have grounds. And so we are not happy, and we are appealing to politicians to let Obado work,” he is quoted.

They claimed that the family would lead a revolt against ODM over the alleged victimisation of their kin.

The Governor was on Wednesday arrested after eight guns were retrieved from his houses during a raid by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

This comes barely a month after his implication in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, one that saw him spend close to a month in remand prison.
