An elderly woman caused a stir on Saturday at Nyamache District Hospital when she demanded to have human flesh for meal, Royal Media's Egesa FM has reported.
In a popular programme known as 'Ekerambauti' run by veteran reporter Charles Onsakia, the unidentified woman had come for treatment from the neighbourhood and failed to submit her details.
Being a public hospital, the reporter notes, the management had no otherwise other than to admit her in the hospital.
"She had stayed in the hospital and admitted for being unconscious. When she regained, she caused a stir after asking for human flesh which she claimed that was in her house.
"She asked doctors to ensure the meat has soup. After some drama, two people who claimed to be her children picked her and vanished to unknown destination," added the reporter.
Cases of witchcraft are synonymous in Nyamira and Kisii Counties and sometimes back in 2011, suspected witches were set ablaze in Marani region.
Elder Nyangena Tendeka of Gesima notes that despite the community downplaying witchcraft allegations, they are rampant within the region.
"Witchcraft is not an imagination. It is real and they do take human flesh. Until we accept the problem, we shall continue facing it."
