 Nairobi has been referred to as a "Shamba la Mawe" to mean the financial hardship that comes with living in the city. 

If you don't budget well for your income you might be crushed by financial problems, keeping in mind you have to pay rent, bus fare, food and send a little cash to the village to support the family. 

We analysed places where you can have cheap shopping in the city and here is the list;

1. Marikiti

If you want to fill your kitchen with fresh fruits and vegetables you can get it at Marikiti at a cheaper price. The market that is located in Muthurwa along Haile Selassie Avenue is known for fresh farm products. It's the same place where "Mama mbogas" get their stock. You can visit and buy at cheap prices. 

2. Eastleigh 

If you plan to do bulk shopping then Eastleigh is there for you. It has a wide range of wholesale stores that supply stock to different shops in the city. If you do shopping at these stores get assured that you will get your stuff at a cheaper price than most of the supermarkets.

 3. Gikomba

It is arguably the largest open-air market in the region. If you are looking for second-hand clothes at an affordable price then don't hesitate to visit Gikomba. It's advised to visit the place on Monday when new stock is being opened. 

4. Toi Market

 It is located along Ngong Road and mainly sells clothes and vegetables. When you are looking for bedsheets or any other kind of bedding you can visit the market. 

Also, children clothes are found at a cheaper price.
