Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has promised that he will solve the various issues facing Kiamunyi in Nakuru such as water shortage and garbage collection.
Speaking during a public baraza at Mercy Njeri on Sunday, the governor admitted that Kiamunyi has not benefitted from urban resources.
He said the issue has been caused by the fact that the area is categorised under rural areas despite the fact that it is a throw stone away from Nakuru town.
"We are discussing the possibility to have part of Kiamunyi under the metropolitan as we prepare to get city status so that it can benefit from water and sewerage under urban planning agenda," Kinyanjui said.
The county boss promised that he will address the issue of water shortage that has hit the area for ages.
"The issue of water shortage in Kiamunyi area will be addressed in the short and long term. I will raise the issue of shortage of water with the relevant water departments to ensure residents get water. In the long-term, Kiamunyi residents will benefit from Chemususu dam water by December 2019. A water tank is being constructed at Prisons and will be able to supply water to Kiamunyi area," the governor added.
