Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale has dismissed claims that there are plans to have Interior CS Fred Matiang’i impeached after his name was dragged in the gold scandal.
Duale hit out at the Leader of Minority John Mbadi and accused him of spreading lies.
This after Mbadi claimed that there was a plot to impeach the CS. “Nobody has any plan to sponsor a motion of removal from office of Dr Matiang’i. If it ever came, I would be the first to defend the government official,” Duale said.
Speaking to Nation, the vocal Jubilee backer said ‘those who want to impeach the CS can do so elsewhere but not on the floor of the house’.“If they want to remove the CS (s) in rallies or bars, I cannot stop them because they are not within the precincts of Parliament.
Otherwise, it is not a walk in the park. Mbadi should not lie because unlike him, I have the numbers in the House to protect the CS,” he added.
Mbadi had claimed that MPs in DP Ruto’s camp were planning to revenge on Matiang’i.“The issue of gold is being used as an excuse.
Since Mr Matiang’i was given added responsibilities the DP has been very unhappy. I have information that two MPs are being used to draft impeachment motion against Mr Matiang’i,” Mbadi was quoted by Daily Nation.
