Kabogo now joins other top politicians among them Deputy President William Ruto who are eyeing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

The former governor said he has what it takes to contest and win the top seat in the much anticipated 2022 general election.

Speaking on citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on Wednesday, Kabogo said that he is no longer interested in local politics.

“I am not focused on local politics and my interest is to serve Kenyans on the national level,” he said.

Kabogo lost re-election in the 2017 polls to his rival and critic Ferdinand Waititu.

There have been claims that Kabogo could be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in 2022.

However, the Kiambu politician has been quoted on several occasions saying that it is not automatic that Mt Kenya region will back DP Ruto’s 2022 bid.

The former governor has maintained that the DP must work hard to earn the trust and votes of Mt Kenya region and the country at large.
