A group of Kalenjin elders has sought audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta to apologize over what they termed as outbursts from a section of their leaders.
The elders said some of the Kalenjin leaders have been throwing insults at the President which is unacceptable.
"We want to meet the President and first apologise to him over remarks by some of our leaders, which amount to disrespect to the Head of State," elder Christopher Koyogi said.
The elders said President Kenyatta and the presidency must be accorded the respect it deserves.
Samwel Ngetich said leaders must engage in meaningful debates and those who want to angage the President must do so within the dictates of decorum.
While revealing to the Star that they have written to State House asking for audience with Uhuru, the elders said they want the people of Rift Valley to benefit from the government.
"We want to talk about jobs for our people, issues affecting farmers and development projects, when we meet the President," Ng’etich said.
Several leaders from Rift Valley including Governor Stephen Sang and MP Oscar Sudi have been in a bare-knuckle attack at the President for ‘letting’ his deputy be attacked by the Opposition.
Sudi said since the Handshake, President Kenyatta started neglecting his DP and entertaining attacks on Ruto over the corruption scandals in the country.
