There was drama on Monday afternoon at Daraja Mbili area in Kisii County after a man was thoroughly beaten by his wife in public for allegedly stealing Sh100.
Witnesses said trouble started when the wife Lillian Nyabate asked her husband George Omache to surrender the money he stole from her handbag in vain.
"Omache stole Sh100 from her wife's handbag to buy chang'aa but, the wife noticed that the money was missing before he could leave the house and asked him to return the money. Omache refused to surrender back the money prompting to the thorough beating from the angry wife," said Judith Moraa.
Moraa said 'weak' Omache was rescued by passersby who responded to his screams.
Area local administrator Richard Oroti said Omache has been stealing from his 'hard-working' wife.
"The man is lazy and never works to eat his own sweat. He steals chicken and maize. His record is bad in the area," he noted.
Oroti said Omache should change his bad ways after the thorough beating he got from the wife.
"Sh100 he had stolen was recovered from his pocket," said the chief.
