Most of them based on his political skills, long stay in politics and the respect he enjoys from his supporter and Kenyans at large.

These include Baba, Agwambo and Rao.

Most of his nicknames are well known and used across the board, though there are a few others which are unique to his Luo Nyanza supporters and not known to others.

Here they are.

1. Wuod Nyalego

This is one of the most popular nicknames of the former Premier among Luos but less known to outsiders.

It translates to 'Son of Nyar Alego (woman from Alego), this being his mother Mary Adhiambo.

Mary was the founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's first wife and is believed to also be the mother of Raila's elder brother Oburu Odinga.

Alego is a clan occupying Alego Usonga constituency, Siaya county.

2. Omin Akinyi

The name has been popularized by Luo musicians, some of whom have used it to replace the Raila tag which is largely known.

It translates to 'Akinyi's brother', meaning that Raila has a sister named Akinyi.

Among musicians who have used it include benga sensation Otieno Small in his 'Agwambo Hummer' track.

3. Wuodwa

His simply means our son in the Luo language, a tittle mostly used by his Luo supporters when secretly discussing political issues.

The reason is to keep outsiders and people who do not belong to the community out of the debate.

Here is Otieno Small's track.
