Poliçe Officers in Siaya county are investigating an incident where a man reportedly attempted to take his own life after committing murder.
40-year-old Kennedy Oduor Otieno is suspected to have attempted suicide after murdering his wife Maureen Aoko at their home in Kakan Village.
Reports by the Citizen Digital indicate that the shocking and saddening incident happened on Tuesday night.
The man is suspected to have taken a poisonous substance after the murder, as he was found locked in the house with foam oozing from his mouth.
Confirming the incident, area chief Joshua Ombago said that the man was found sitting unconscious on a chair and his wife's lifeless body lying on the floor.
The people were alerted by their 10-year son who was, however, not in the house at the time of the incident.
The chief said that the boy who was away at a neighbours house alerted his grandparents when he saw his mother's lifeless body lying on the floor through the window.
This was after his knocks on the door went unanswered upon his return from the neighbour's home.
Mr Oduor is undergoing treatment at the Siaya County Referral Hospital and his wife's body is being preserved at the same faculty's morgue.
