Speaking in his constituency on Sunday, Musyoka said the move will ensure youths in the county don't overindulge in the herb's consumption.

He said youths have consumed "miraa" and "muguka" which have rendered them useless and unproductive in the community.

"I want to urge the executive and the county assembly to come up with a high tax regime on "miraa" that will be beyond the reach of the youths whose lives have been ruined by it," Musyoka said.

The MP said the drugs have quashed the dreams of youths of ever having a better future.

"The herb has made it impossible to differentiate the learned and unlearned, reduced them to nothing, our youths are getting lost," he said.

Musyoka, however, promised to start communal libraries and innovation centers in all wards of his constituents where youths will be able to access reading materials and be trained on how to utilize computers in bettering their lives.

He said there are high rates of unemployment in the constituency stating that most youths have been reduced to idlers even after graduating from universities and colleges.

Musyoka said such youths resort to social vices due to frustrations in life.
