Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been granted bail over charges he is facing of being in illegal possession of firearms.
Appearing before chief magistrate Joyce Gandani at the Kibera Law Courts on Friday, the judge noted that she was not convinced that Obado was a flight risk or that he will interfere with the investigations.
She dismissed the application and granted the accused a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Sh200,000.
Obado was arrested barely 24 hours after detectives drawn from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) raided his residence in Migori and Nairobi early this week.
The detectives were searching for documents allegedly linking Obado to corruption where eight guns were confiscated in his Migori and Nairobi homes.
Obado was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts on Thursday but was held at the Gigiri Police Station pending determination of his bail.
