A new storm has erupted following reports that governor Ali Korane allegedly cancelled a cheque he had signed to cater for medical bills of the ailing CEC Idris Mukhtar.
On Sunday, Korane furiously denied the allegations stating that the news was mere propaganda meant to incite locals against his government.
He added that not a single day that he has withdrawn a donation offered to anyone not even for the case of CEC Mukhtar who was on the process of instituting prosecutions against him.
“I have never cancelled any cheque meant for anyone in this county and even beyond. It is pure propaganda by individuals who want to taint my character as a person and incite the entire Garissa residents against my leadership. It is very disheartening to hear such reports from a sober person,” Korane said while responding to the issue.
In another move that reinforced his statement on the alleged cheque, Korane contributed two million shillings in a fundraiser for the CEC's medical fund despite not availing himself to the function in person.
