Gor Mahia are on the verge of a historic milestone, after they beat hosts Yanga of Tanzania in a CAF Confederation match played on Sunday in Tanzania.
The Kenya Premier League champions led two goals to nil at halftime, and weathered a second half storm from the hosts to clinch the win.
They have since scored seven goals in their last two matches in the competition, after they beat the same team in the reverse fixture a week ago.
The Tanzanian champions now languish at the bottom of the log with just a single point, and have since been kicked out of the competition.
The Kenyan side opened the scoring through George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo, who cleverly controlled a Samuel Onyango pass to head home the opener.
Jacques Tuyisenge doubled the visitors' advantage, scoring the second after an indirect freekick .
Yanga came back in the second half a charged side, and pulled one back after a poorly cleared free-kick in the 59th minute.
Captain Harun Shakava restored Gor's two goal advantage, after he tapped in a poorly cleared corner.
Young Africans scored a second in 81st minute, but Gor held on to clinch the precious victory, which took them to top of the gourp, albeit temporally, awaiting results between USM Alger and Rayon Sports.
