Speaking during the flagging off ceremony of the students at the county headquarters on Wednesday, governor Mandago said the students will pursue an education course.

"As county government, we discovered that in our 12 vocational training colleges, we had a shortage of technical teachers that is why we decided to sponsor 100 students to pursue the course in education,” Mandago said.

He noted that the course will take one year, and upon completion of their studies, the students will become teachers in technical and vocational institutions.

“We have selected 100 students where each ward produced three students, and it will take my government Sh60 million to cater for their tuition and boarding,” he added.

He further noted that his government is keen on technical education, where students can acquire skills and knowledge that will help them earn a living.

Mandago reaffirmed that his administration will continue sponsoring students to pursue technical courses until the county has enough technicians.

He noted that the funds are not scholarships, and will be refunded once the students are employed.
