Orange Democratic Movement party Director of Elections Junet Mohammed has welcomed the decision by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta at DP William Ruto's Harambee House Annex offices.

A jovial Jumwa was seen taking photos with both Uhuru and Ruto and would later insist that the 'handshake' between her and the hosts was 'genuine', perhaps a direct jibe at Raila Odinga.

"Earlier today, I had another 'Handshake' with H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta. Also, I shared a light moment with both the President and the DP.#GenuineHandshake#CascadingHandshakeManenos," she said.

Last month, the Orange party's NGC ratified the decision by NEC ro expel Jumwa from the party over her association with Deputy President William Ruto. She has been pushing for Ruto's presidency.

But Mohammed insisted that the Tuesday's Harambee Annex meeting was welcome, insinuating that the second term MP had officially decamped to Jubilee Party.

"When you disagree with your party and join another one, you do it as Hon Aisha Jumwa did yesterday.. Mchana peupe!! Congratulations Hon Aisha," wrote Mohammed, a close ally of Raila Odinga.

Should Registrar of Political Parties affirm ODM's position, then Jumwa would now face a by-election, now as a member of another party. The expulsion means she's no longer a bona fide member of the Orange party.

During 2017 polls, ODM party scooped all seats in the Kilifi County, an evidence that shows the region is a strong ODM region. In the event of a by-election, Jumwa could therefore struggle to retain her seat.
