Kenya Power has finally restored power in Garissa County which has been receiving intermittent power supply over the past few days.
Garissa residents have been complaining of power outages since the beginning of Ramadhan as the Muslim faithful observe Taraweeh prayers.
The residents claimed that power was being switched off just when prayers are about to start and the outage would last for hours.
Garissa Township MP Aden Duale visited the Kenya Power substation in Garissa on Sunday and assured the residents that the matter has been resolved.
The power provider installed a transformer at the Garissa substation to enhance its capacity and ensure enough supply in Garissa town and its environs where there have been power outages.
Duale said the KPLC's management was able to replace the transformer at the station so that Muslims who are observing the holy month of Ramadhan are not inconvenienced.
“A new transformer fully loaded was commissioned in Garissa Earlier today. Blackout and power rationing is a thing of the past during the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
“On behalf of the residents, many thanks to the KPLC Management and engineers for restoring back the load,” posted Duale on Facebook.
