A section of MPs led by Majority Leader Aden Duale have vowed to block Serem's appointment for allegedly 'mistreating' them when she was the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) boss.

But speaking in Nyeri County on Friday, Kuria said he will fight for Serem to be given a clean bill of health against the wish of some legislators whom he claimed wants to 'embarrass the President again'.

He referred to the rejection of the nomination of former Kenya Power Managing Director Ben Chumo as the new SRC chairperson by Parliament on Wednesday.

The National Assembly Finance and National Planning committee rejected Uhuru's nominee on grounds he did not pass ethics and integrity tests.

Kuria said Duale's opposition won't stop Serem's nomination to go through, saying he will use the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga to rally even opposition MPs behind her.

"She is a nominee of the President. We will approve her name. The Majority Leader is wrong on this one and I will mobilise other members of Parliament to pass the nomination,” the vocal MP said.

Kuria spoke during a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls School, Nyeri County.
