An MP from Nyamira has backed the Huduma number program aimed at registering Kenyans for easy provision of government services.
Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu while speaking on Friday in his constituency said the program should not be politicised because it is meant to benefit Kenyans.
"I'm among the many Kenyans supporting the Huduma number which is meant to boost how people will get access to government services. I am appealing to residents in Kisii and Nyamira counties to turn up in large numbers to get the Huduma number," he said.
The vocal MP further condemned a section of leaders opposing the program terming them enemies to the government.
"It is time we should accept changes which the government introduces because programs such as the Huduma number will benefit every Kenyan," he stated.
Machogu said he will personally traverse his constituency to ensure constituents get their Huduma number which they will use to access government services.
"As much as we are enjoying our freedom as by the constitution, there is a need for our people to be told the truth about government programs. Telling lies to people about government programs won't help local politicians clinch to power," he added.
