Bonchari MP John Oyioka has reacted after NASA leader Raila Odinga affirmed that the Standard Gauge Railway line will pass through Gusii region.
Oyioka said the extension of SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu via Nyamira County will help boost the economic base rich agricultural region.
"I am happy that finally, the SGR will pass through the Gusii region. Our people will take advantage of the SGR line to transport agricultural products directly to various markets outside Gusii region thus, boost the level of income," he stated.
He said the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime minister has finally benefited the people in Gusii region.
"It is crystal clear that the people of Gusii region will have a share of the historic handshake. Once the construction of SGR is complete, several people from the Gusii community will have an opportunity to do business in far areas from home since transportation of people and goods will be made easy and affordable," he maintained.
He was speaking at Suneka on Monday.
The MP's remarks come after Raila while speaking at Muhoroni on Monday said that the SGR will pass through Nyamira, Sondu and end in Kisumu.
