There is no doubt that the majority of Rift Valley residents support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Politicians from this region led by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen among others have openly been fighting Dr Ruto’s wars whenever the second man in command is linked to any corruption scandal or any negative doing in the government.
All these have always been termed as efforts to sabotage the DP’s efforts to rise to the presidency.
The kind of support the self-proclaimed Rift Valley kingpin enjoys from his home turf will go a long way in helping him clinch the country's top seat.
Ruto draws the origin of his rise to be a humble background in Sugoi Village in Uasin Gishu County and this has made most of his supporters from the Rift Valley believe that their lives will change if their son becomes the next president.
Mzee Daniel Moi was a president for 24 years but hunger, wars and poverty in his Baringo county is not a new thing.
Similarly, Kiambu county where President Uhuru Kenyatta hails from has been complaining of being sidelined by the government in developments and projects. This is because Kiambu residents have not seen what they expected when Uhuru ascended to power. Moses Kuria who represents the president in parliament threatened to resign over the biased development allegations.
The truth is that if Ruto will be the president, Rift Valley and his Uasin Gishu county will still be subjected to equal share and distribution of resources and funds by the government.
