In a tweet on Tuesday, lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi confirmed that Maraga had bowed to public demand and allowed the media into the ongoing interviews which started on Monday.

"Breaking News.... do to public outcry JSC and CJ Maraga have opened the interviews of judges to the public and media....what did they want to hide? (sic)" Ahmednassir tweeted.

The prominent lawyer had earlier questioned why the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) and CJ had denied the media entry into the interviews.

Ahmednassir pointed out that doing the interview in the dark meant something fishy was going on which was against the Constitution.

"CJ Maraga should not take JSC & judiciary to the dark ages of Kanu. Recruitment of judges behind closed doors is totally unacceptable as it offends Art 10 of the Const..JSC members should not be allowed to “share” & distribute judicial appointments amongst their friends/tribesmen," reads the lawyer's earlier tweet

The ongoing process is expected to end on July 1st and 31 judges will have been interviewed, from which 11 will be selected to fill vacant positions at the Court of Appeal.
