Taita Taveta Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui on Monday paid an impromptu visit to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi following an alarm over poor medical services at the facility.

The DG affirmed that the County's Executive and Legislature are working together to revamp the health sector across the County.

She said Governor Granton Samboja has tasked the entire Executive with various responsibilities to ensure that all health facilities are working without any hitches.

"Governor Granton Samboja has tasked me to follow up on the operational shortfalls to ensure health facilities are working with the required resources. Working with the Health Services County Executive Committee Member and the Chief Officer, we shall resolve this issue with the CECM Finance. The Governor is dedicated to ensure there are no fuel and food shortages in our facilities," said Mlagui on Monday.

Mlagui indicated that the county technology directorate will intervene to ensure a patient management system and security system such CCTV cameras are installed to curb all delays in patient administration and increase security to guarantee accountability. 

Members of the County Assembly Health and Sanitation Services Committee led by Frank Mmare said they will work closely with the Executive and hospital staff to deliver the best services to residents of Taita Taveta.

 The outgoing CeC Dr. Frank Mwangemi gave a detailed report to the committee on the status of the hospitals before handing over to the incoming CeC Daniel Makoko, following Governor Samboja's latest cabinet reshuffle.

In his remarks he called on medics and hospital staff to accord the new Makoko the necessary support to achieve set objectives and transform the health sector.
