Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Thursday, Passaris said that the issue of abortion is a serious matter and its needs extensive consultation. She noted that the government should think twice before the ban on abortion since women continue to suffer because of the same.

She also said that the government has the mandate to make the right decisions for the children but women can choose what they want at the end of the day.

“I feel that a woman has the right to make choices for her body and sometimes, gov’t has the right to make choices for the children being abused,” she said.

On the abuse of drugs, Passaris said that children affected by the habit need guidance and not incrimination. She noted that thousands of children in schools have been engaging in the habit, which has affected their lives in different ways.

The women rep also said that the drug barons must face the full force of the law.

“We (as a country) need to seriously go for the person selling these drugs and as we cut off that supply, then we have to make sure not to lose citizens who are already addicted to these drugs,” she said.
