The incident happened on Friday at Gesiaga in Nyamira County.

Neighbours said Lawrence Marube beat his wife, Jackline Bochere and accused her of being the reason their daughter, a minor, got pregnant.

"Marube realised their daughter who is a form 3 student was pregnant and his wife didn't inform him. Upon questioning the wife, she answered him rudely prompting to the attack," said James Ong'ayo, a neighbour.

Ong'ayo observed that during the attack, Bochere's right hand was broken.

Area assistant chief Patrick Mabuka confirmed the incident and said the woman was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital for treatment.

"Marube broke his wife's hand and escaped in fear of police arrest. Their daughter is 2 months pregnant and she has not reported to school after schools re-opened on Monday. She will be questioned to tell us the man who is responsible for her pregnancy," the chief said.

Further, he urged married people not to fight but, he advised, they should use legal means to solve family differences.

The administrator said men luring school girls for sex and impregnate them will not be spared by the rule of law.
