In an interview on Radio Jambo early Saturday, Mwura backed Mwilu’s arrest and prosecution on allegations of corruption and forgery.

He further hit out at the DCJ for dragging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name into her woes, after she filed an affidavit before the High Court, alleging that the same is a plot by Uhuru to victimize the Judiciary for annulling his re-election last year.

According to Mwaura, however, Mwilu should carry her own cross and desist from making excuses, adding that the other judges would have been in the same situation were it a case of revenge.

‘’Hii si kulipiza kisasi. Kama ni hivyo basi mbona Jaji Mkuu David Maraga na Isaac Lenaola hawajakamatwa na wao pia waliunga mkono kubatilishwa kwa uchaguzi wa Uhuru (were that the case, then why is the Chief Justice and Justice Lenaola not arrested despite backing the annulment?), he wondered.

Mwilu was arrested on Tuesday and later released on bond over, among others, allegations of receiving monetary presents.

Her legal team has since succeeded in having the case hearings postponed for a month.
