The residents, led by Evans Kabinga welcomed the impeachment saying the MCAs did a commendable job.

"Omoti is corrupt and has abused office. His impeachment came at a right time because this is what we want our MCAs to do to everybody working in the county," he said.

Mr Kabinga stated that Governor Nyagarama should not be given time to embezzle funds as well.

He called on MCAs to be vigilant and ensure the governor delivers, failure to which he would be kicked out.

"The MCAs should not spare Nyagarama especially the ward representatives allied to ODM party. Nyagarama should be closely monitored and his deputy Amos Nyaribo and once they fail to deliver they should be kicked out through an impeachment," he added.

Victor Moenga stated that it is a new dawn in Nyamira following the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker.

"Our MCAs are now awake. We want the same to happen to county ministers and any other worker who will be caught engaging in corruption and misusing power. Impunity must come to an end in Nyamira," he noted.

Moenga insisted that the elected leaders must work around the clock to improve the livelihoods of the people in the region.

Martha Onchera, a hawker in Nyamira town said Omoti should not be allowed to move to court to challenge the MCAs decision to impeach him.

"Omoti should be thrown out from the court if he will go there to seek help. Let him accept the impeachment," she noted.

The locals were speaking in Nyamira town on Wednesday afternoon.
