Details of the cause of the accident that occurred on Tuesday near Maseno along Kisumu--Busia hghway claiming the lives of two have emerged.

In an exclusive interview with Hivisasa on Wednesday morning, Kisumu West OCPD Meshack Arap Kiptum said the accident that the accident that involved two lorries and a motorbike occurred as a result of a blunder by the motorcyclist.

“The motorcyclist abruptly stopped in the middle of the road. This confused the lorry drivers who tried their best to avoid the motorbike but ended up colliding  in the process” he said.

 "One was heading towards Luanda in Vihiga while the other one was heading towards Kisumu at the time of the accident', he added.

The OCPD also said that he is yet to get a report of the progress of those injured and that he had sent his team to check on their progress at Jaramogi Teaching and Referral Hospital where they were rushed after the accident.

He however did not want to commend on the state of the road as had been raised by members of the public and recommended they direct their grievances to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The accident comes at a time when the government has put stringent measures on road transport including a crack down on unlicensed motorists in an effort to curb increase in road accidents.
