Nairobi county senator Johnston Sakaja has come out as one of those against the rush implementation of the proposal.

Through his Twitter account, he made his stand clear and elaborated steps he has taken as far as "car-free" days are concerned.

"Held consultation with the Ministry of Transport, The Nairobi Traffic Commander, Nairobi County Govt and hawkers representative on the proposed 'car-free' days. I have advised them to put off the exercise to allow for better planning and proper public participation," read the senator's tweet.
