Raila while speaking on Friday evening at Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi where he presided over the Annual Journalism Excellence Award (AJEA) said the Kenyan Parliament should tell Kenyans why a delegation of 86 MPs left the country for USA to attend a training which could be conducted in the country.

The former Prime Minister wondered why Kenyan Parliament sent the highest number of MPs yet other countries like Nigeria sent only 20 MPs.

"Kenyan Parliament must explain to Kenyans why MPs are misusing taxpayers money travelling abroad yet Kenyans are struggling with poverty. It is a big shame for Kenyan MPs to continue making unnecessary trips to foreign country which won't benefit Kenyans in any way," said Raila.

He challenged MPs to focus on development and not spending taxpayers money carelessly.

"MPs were elected to champion for development in their respective constituencies and not unnecessary trips across the world. The money being spent by MPs should be diverted to fund development projects in the country," stated Odinga.
