President Uhuru Kenyatta has taken a maiden opportunity to defend the professional bloggers urging them to use the media in highlighting the scourge of corruption, disseminating information that is educative, and that impacts positively the society.
He said Kenya has a vibrant social media landscape which should not be used for hurling insults rather should be used effectively.
The President, speaking at the Bomas of Kenya during the Anti Corruption Conference told the Chief Justice David Maraga who seemed annoyed by the Social media outcry over the Judiciary failure to dispense Justice, to be used to the Professional Bloggers since it is the same courts that ruled the media laws unconstitutional.
"I remember there was a time we wanted to pass a law to stop these people from insulting all of us left right and center but it was to court and the court decided it was unconstitutional. Just like the rest of us, get used to it," President Kenyatta told the judiciary.
The President in the company of Opposition leader Raila Odinga seemed irked by the judiciary and asked the Chief Justice to clean his house and rectify all forms of weaknesses the Judiciary has.
Social media professional bloggers are Kenya's fastest news disseminators and whistleblowers and president Kenyatta urged them to expose corrupt individuals and practices using the media in order for the war on graft be fully achieved.
