The 15-year-old standard seven pupil was later found dumped by the roadside on Thursday, after reportedly taking long to return home after being sent to the shop.

According to her mother Melvine Otieno, the Pala Primary School pupil had been sent to buy food at the shop only to be found sexually assaulted and killed.

"We became suspicious when she took long to return home.  She was sent to the market to buy sugar and eggs," she told the Nation.

However, the allegations have been rubbished by Homa Bay Police Commander Esther Seroney who said that preliminary tests do not show any signs of a defilement.

Speaking on the incident, the police boss said that no such evidence was found during the postmortem at the Homa Bay Referral Hospital but added that more teats will be done.

The family is now threatening to delay the burial of the deceased until the perpetrators are arrested and subjected to the law.

"We do not want a repeat of such acts in this area.  Police should ensure that the suspects are eliminated from our midst,” Kanyamwa Kosewe Ward Representative Nicholas Owaka said.

This comes at a time when the county seems to be growing into a harbour of murder incidents.
